Financial literacy is an essential life skill, yet there’s growing demand from educators and experts for integrating tools and curricula to teach it early.

💰 According to financial experts, the best financial literacy lessons start early in life. A recent study by the University of Cambridge showed that kids form money habits as early as the age of 7.

📚 In Canada, Financial Literacy is expected to be taught within high school math programs

My Approach

My Approach

Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we restructured the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.

Feature Prioritization & Information Architecture: I translated research findings into a user-centric product roadmap. Through card sorting and journey mapping, we prioritized features like avatar personalization, chore-based rewards, and simple saving goals.

Prototyping & Validation: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.

Visual Design & Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates.

“ With our new visual branding and language in place, the new Shopify brand clearly captures the essence of our current and target customer base, our employees, and our values. ”

Conclusion

Conclusion

📱 Product success depends on deep empathy and strategic focus, especially when designing for non-traditional user groups (like kids!)

👾 Gamification can be a powerful tool but it must be aligned with clear learning outcomes
